Why scan physical props instead of modeling them from scratch?

Scanning is faster and more accurate for complex organic shapes or antique items with unique wear and tear. It captures the subtle imperfections—scratches, rust, patina—that make an object look 'real,' which can take artists weeks to replicate manually.

Can you scan shiny, transparent, or reflective objects?

Traditional scanners struggle with shine. We use a combination of cross-polarization (to kill glare) and, where permissible, specialized scanning sprays that temporarily matte the surface. This allows us to capture the precise geometry of glass, metal, or glossy props.

What are PBR materials and do you provide them?

PBR (Physically Based Rendering) materials tell a computer how light should react with an object. When we scan a prop, we generate not just the colour map, but also the Roughness, Metallic, and Normal maps, ensuring the digital prop reacts to light exactly like the real one.

How do you handle museum-grade or fragile artifacts?

We use non-contact scanning methods for heritage artifacts. Our photogrammetry and laser rigs never physically touch the object, and we use cool LED lighting to prevent heat damage, ensuring the safety of priceless historical items.

Is it possible to 3D print a replica from a scan?

Absolutely. Once an object is scanned and the mesh is 'watertight' (holes filled), the data can be sent to a 3D printer or CNC machine. This is often used to create lightweight stunt props or identical backups of hero props for production.
