Product Scanning for a Hero Commercial Campaign

Coors Light’s ’Keep It Fresh’ campaign needed hero product shots precise enough to fill the frame in extreme close-up… the kind of shot where every water droplet on a can is doing visible work. We provided structured-light scanning and photogrammetry for the project.

Product scanning at this level is a different discipline from environment scanning. A can or bottle filling the whole frame demands sub-millimetre accuracy and complete texture capture across curved, reflective surfaces that don’t forgive a rushed scan… condensation, embossing and label detail all have to survive the transition into 3D without looking waxy or approximated.

We delivered high-resolution textured meshes ready to drop into the production’s 3D pipeline, in the formats the VFX team specified, captured and processed within the fast turnaround advertising demands rather than a feature film’s more forgiving schedule.

Commercials like this are where scanning earns its keep in ways people don’t always expect… the surreal visual sequences and CGI-augmented product beauty shots that would be prohibitively expensive or simply impossible to shoot for real. Getting the can right in 3D is what let the rest of the campaign get weird.
